RUSSIAN DRONE STRIKES UKRAINIAN TRAIN NEAR POLISH BORDER
A Russian drone struck a train near the Ukraine-Poland border shortly after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and top European security officials had passed through the area. The strike occurred at Yahodyn, impacting the train’s engine, and no casualties were reported. All passengers had been evacuated, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The incident involved a train line used by Jonathan Powell, the UK’s national security adviser, and David Petraeus, former CIA chief. Both were traveling on separate trains at Yahodyn station when the drone strike occurred. This underscores the vulnerability of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure and the potential for attacks on key figures involved in international aid and security efforts.

RAPID EVACUATION AND TECHNICAL DETAILS
Ukrainian authorities issued an evacuation order for passengers on the hit train just 15 minutes before the strike, which was carried out by a Russian jet-propelled drone. The drone impacted approximately 2km from the Polish border. The state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia suggested the target might have been the diplomatic train, highlighting the deliberate nature of the attack.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the strikes as “Putin’s terror” targeting the EU and NATO borders. He reiterated the need for decisive action to increase the cost of the war for Russia, framing it as the only way to deter further aggression.

RECENT ATTACKS ON UKRAINIAN RAILWAYS – A GROWING THREAT
Russia has been systematically targeting Ukraine’s train network in recent months, resulting in casualties and significant damage to the country's transport infrastructure. This includes the deaths of six employees of Ukrzaliznytsia after a depot was hit in Kyiv, as well as the death of a female conductor in a drone attack on a passenger train in southern Ukraine.
