RUSSIAN ATTACKS AND UKRAINIAN DEFENSE
Overnight, Russian forces launched a sustained and widespread assault across Ukraine, resulting in at least seven fatalities, including five in Dnipro where a significant apartment building was struck. The attacks, lasting “practically all night,” prompted a rapid response from Ukrainian forces and the scrambling of British jets from Romania to intercept approaching Russian drones near the border. This represents the largest drone attack in several days, with over 600 drones deployed, primarily targeting civilian infrastructure such as residential buildings, energy facilities, and industrial enterprises. Ukrainian authorities report successfully repelling the vast majority of these drones, highlighting the ongoing struggle and adaptation within Ukraine’s defensive strategies.

TARGETING AND DAMAGE ASSESSMENT
The Russian assault extended across multiple regions, with attacks targeting Chernihiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv, resulting in casualties and damage to critical infrastructure. Notably, in Yekaterinburg, almost 1,000 miles from the Ukrainian border, a building was struck, injuring six individuals. Similarly, Chelyabinsk saw drones targeting an industrial facility, which were successfully intercepted. The Russian Ministry of Defence claimed the destruction of 127 drones across more than a dozen regions, while also asserting control over the village of Bochkove in the Kharkiv region, a strategic location near Ukraine’s northern border. This expansion of operations underscores Russia’s persistent attempts to exert pressure and disrupt Ukrainian logistics. Romania’s defense ministry is currently investigating an object that fell near the Ukrainian border, clarifying that British jets did not enter Ukrainian airspace and no drones were shot down.
